Shih Tzu dogs can be similar in many ways but opposite in others.
I have 2 Shih Tzu, a girl, Smore who is nine years old and a boy, Sphinx who is eight years old. They are very affectionate and loving.
They are great little dogs and can be trained relatively quickly as long as you don't want to teach them too many things.
They don't shed but if you don't get them groomed you need to brush them every day to stop mats from forming.
Other than that the two dogs are opposite, one like water, one hates water.
One is obedient; one is mischievous.
One likes to be picked up and snuggled, the other not so much.
One can catch treats; one can't.
One stays by my side the other takes off and runs as far as possible.
One is black, and one is white, but both changed color from when they were puppies.

Sheri summed up the personality of the Shih Tzu in such a smart way. These dogs all have similar traits, but they each have a specific and very different character.
May I add a few more opposites that I've seen in the Shih Tzu?
Some like to play; some want to watch on the sidelines.
Some love to take walks, others prefer riding in a stroller.
Some are great eaters; others are very picky.
Some love to be brushed and groomed, others will fight you every step of the way.
Even though their temperament can vary from dog to dog, there are a few things that Shih Tzu dogs share in common. Sheri summed it up quite well. They are all lovable, loyal and want nothing more in life than to love you.
